How It Works
1. We move you to PowerGuard Energy Partner
Texas is a deregulated energy market, which means you get to choose your Retail Electricity Provider (REP). We move you to PowerGuard Energy Partner, our preferred REP, which offers a rate structure designed specifically for solar + battery homes. The switch is handled entirely by PowerGuard at no cost to you.
2. Your battery enrolls in ERCOT demand response
With your permission, your PowerGuard battery is enrolled in an ERCOT-compatible demand response program through PowerGuard Energy Partner. During grid stress events (typically extreme summer heat or winter cold snaps), ERCOT issues a dispatch signal requesting available grid resources.
3. PowerGuard dispatches stored energy, safely
When a dispatch event is triggered, our monitoring system exports a controlled portion of your stored battery energy to the grid. We always maintain a minimum reserve in your battery, typically 20 to 30% state of charge, so your home backup capability is never compromised. Most dispatch events last 30 minutes to 2 hours, and occur fewer than 10 to 15 times per year.
4. You earn bill credits
For every kWh dispatched during a grid event, you earn credits against your monthly PowerGuard Energy Partner bill. Credits roll forward automatically and appear as line-item reductions on your statement. The size of your credits depends on ERCOT dispatch frequency and your battery's capacity, modeled clearly during your site assessment.
